[attr="class","hdinfo"]The name of a rich child with parents in computer science fields- a software engineer, and a programmer who worked creating reports at a major bank- it had seemed a mix of a joke and well-intended connection. Sev sounded cute. They'd been endeared, personally. That wasn't to say that the other kids at school had. Still, upperclass schools had their own interesting names, even if none were numbers. The bullying continued on and off throughout school, but Sev herself never seemed to have too many problems with it. It was irritating, but her grades stayed up and she didn't ever report anything or act out. Her grades stayed consistent throughout elementary school, though the girl stayed quiet and withdrawn. Problems at home began- stress between her parents who both had long hours, both constantly working over 60 hours a week and neither having the energy to care for a child and navigate a relationship- and Seven tried to stay quiet about it. Ignore and avoid, one of her best skills. Stay small and stay quiet and stay out of it. Her grades would be kept at As and Bs and regardless of how much Seven seemed to shrink down, no one caught onto any problems. Partway through her seventh grade year, Seven's parents separated, and were divorced by the beginning of her eighth grade year. Sev seemed to withdraw even further. No notable friends, no real connections with teachers, her busy parents couldn't recall many hobbies interests or any time outside of either of their houses. But her grades stayed consistent and no one reported any issues so she had to be fine, they decided. She was just a quiet child. Reserved, but fine. It wouldn't be until her freshman year that everything seemed to fall apart. Yet another harsh change in a limited amount of time set off the already fragile girl, and a few too many pills would land her in the hospital, when a worried parent found her passed out on the bathroom floor. And though Sev swore up and down that it was an accident, that she hadn't meant to, that she was fine, fine, fine but a few too many note drafts scattered through the bathroom and her bedroom would prove her intent. Before she was even released from the hospital, her parents had her signed up for Birchwood Academy. They were positive that Birchwood would have better staff to keep watch over her, more access to mental health care. She'd be safe there, regardless of how she felt on the matter. Though Seven finished the rest of her first semester at her old school, for her second semester she was shipped off to Glendale and moved into the Birchwood dorms, where she's been since. Though generally under close watch, and pressured to be more outgoing, Sev's continued to be as withdrawn and detached as ever, mostly just waiting to get out of Birchwood. Removed from other students and struggling to push herself into clubs and activities. Shy and flighty, though she hasn't made a problem of herself. Misc + Extremely sensitive to sunlight and prone to sunburn. + Has horrible eyesight and always wears glasses. The idea of touching her eyes for contacts makes her squeamish. + Diagnosed with major depression and severe social anxiety. + Says her medication is fine but honestly barely feels the effects. She's just uninterested in having it changed. + Stutters when talking to strangers. + Braids and unbraids her hair when nervous, or fiddles with her shirt cuffs. + Learned Python from her parents when she was young, and she taught herself C++, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Sells webdesigns freelance for pocket change and wants to get an internship at a software design company over the summer, but is convinced she won't get it and is scared to apply. |
