Evening
First time meetings really...
suck!
Alyssa walked down the hallway her face drawn into a hard cold mask, not even for a moment did her deep blue eyes deviate from the path ahead. Lips drawn into a tight line she looked like an ice queen as her flawless black boots thudded against the floor of the building. The pale-esque woman with the sharp nose adorned with an amethyst nose piercing marched seemingly undaunted by the unfamiliar halls of the school she had only just arrived at. Although she was far from the truth, the young woman’s heart pounded with the fervor of a thrash metal drummer on meth, she did her best not to let it show, she’d never let anyone see her weak, ever. She’d decided that long ago, and so far, in life the woman had stuck to the principle, this school was unlikely to change that.
She’d been to her dorm already albeit briefly to have one of the house staff drop off her things, although her ‘dormmate’ hadn’t been there when she had. This situation was less than ideal, but she didn’t really have a choice, that was part of the condition when she had been forced to come to this place, to use the public dormitory and not a private lodging. The young lady had no idea who her roommate was, or what she was like, the girl hadn’t been there and she’d decided to get some air instead of sticking around, now she was on the way back. Most of her things were in boxes still, it was time to unpack she supposed, the only instruments she had brought came in the form of her electric guitar and violin along with boxes of things. The school had searched through most of her belongings making sure she had no ‘illegal’ substances, that was pretty lame.
Since leaving her house someone had searched her belongings at least five times, frisked her three times, questioned her more than a bunch of times. Yet they still hadn’t found the stash hidden in the false bottom of the minifridge currently boxed up in her room, hah suckers. Hopefully her dormmate wouldn’t be a huge problem about that, despite what crap she said in court now that the pressure was off the young woman had absolutely no inclination towards actually quitting any of her habits. Lost in her thoughts Alyssa approached her door, the light was on so it seemed someone was there at least. She wasn’t the type to knock, it was half her room after all so without any pause she opened the door and stepped inside to see who was there.

| Iris didn’t honestly mind the thought of having a roommate. There were six siblings living in her home, with three rooms. One of the rooms was supposed to belong to her parents, but her eldest brother had claimed it for himself. That left two rooms. Iris shared her room with her sisters, while her other brothers shared the left over room. So, all in all, Iris was very used to sharing a space. She would have to get to know her dormmate, sure, but it couldn’t be that much more difficult than sharing with her sisters. After all, they were slobs and impossible anyway. And there was only one other person in this dorm and it was bigger than her bedroom at home.
Yeah, Iris could deal. The biggest question was whether or not her roommate could. She figured the other girl would have to though, right? No one really got an option with these things, after all. Roommates were part of the deal. No one was in the school by accident (or so Iris believed), so it’s not like they deserved a plush, cushy life. Though Iris herself saw nothing wrong with what she had done (her family had to eat, after all), she also understood that she had broken the law (even if it was a dumb law) and this was her penance for her actions.
The girl was bent over her suitcase, sorting through her clothes when the door opened. She looked up calmly, her green eyes landing on the girl who stepped through the door. Considering she had a key, Iris had to assume she was the roommate. She smiled a bit, tucking her hair behind her ears. “Hey there, roomie~” She greeted warmly, holding a dress loosely in her hands. |

Alyssa entered the room, greeted by another person and she looked at them for a moment. Staying cool and composed outwardly, inwardly her heart was throttling away inside of her chest. This was the person she was stuck with for quite some time hopefully they wouldn’t be at odds; Alyssa knew she had to make at least some sort of effort. Quickly looking over the person who greeted her she smiled back and spoke in her soft spoken way, denying the butterflies that fluttered about inside of her stomach creating a whirlwind of apprehension. She was greeted warmly, and so she spoke back in response although soft it was as warm as she knew how to manage.”Hi there” She spoke softly trying to sound stronger than she felt.
She’d never shared a room with anyone before in her life, as she crossed in the threshold of her new room. Casting a short glance to the pile of boxes that held the belongings she had brought. In her hand was the sleek black violin case which the young woman set down on the floor. ”I’m Alyssa, it’s nice to meet you” She did feel a bit better than earlier, having slipped out to play and met a person whom had bolstered her spirits quite a bit. With a number of boxes that demanded her attention, but not much willingness to do so. She stepped over to open one of the boxes, sighing to herself very quietly realizing that she did indeed have to unpack herself. Normally her personal attendant would have taken care of this, but it seemed she was stuck in this tiny room to somehow share with another person and no one to wait on her.
Most of her unpacking could wait, but she needed to see if this other girl would keep unpacking and talk while doing so. She’d feel, annoyingly awkward sitting around with her boxes of possessions while someone else unpacked. All she could do was wait that moment to see how her new roommate would react.

| Although her face didn’t reflect it, Iris was sizing up her new roommate. The first thing she noticed about the other girl was that she was pretty. Stick straight black hair and ice blue eyes, a pale complexion, and a seemingly quiet demeanor. Not only was she pretty, but she was cute as well. And though Iris took note of these things, she realized they weren’t actually important. No, what was important was the other girl’s personality. Who would make the rules in this dorm? Would the brunette bitch when she came in late or drunk? Or would she accompany her to the parties? Was Iris looking at a future friend or annoyance? Or, considering how pretty she was, maybe Iris was looking at a future fling. Heh. That’d be fun. Except that they lived together. That would be awkward.
As the girl introduced herself, Iris smiled kindly at her. She placed her dress on her bed and carefully traipsed across the room. She held out her hand to shake Alyssa’s. “Nice to know who I’m living with~” she quipped. “My name is Iris.” She continued, tilting her head as her gaze fell on the violin case in her roommate’s hand. “Oh, you play?” She questioned. Iris had always had a latent interest in learning to play an instrument, but life had come first. Her family didn’t have the money for such frivolities, firstly, and she didn’t have the time.
Had Iris been born into a different family, and had she been able to pursue her interests beyond helping to raise her younger siblings, it would have been quickly noted that she was a complete natural at playing instruments. This hadn’t happened, however, and Iris never even considered trying to learn anymore.

Alyssa’s eyes looked over the other girl as well, she was gorgeously pretty with the most beautiful of hairs. Not that Alyssa had the nerve to voice those compliments; she had no idea what sort of person her roommate might be. Her eyes flicked over the other girls things but there was nothing that could help her get an accurate depiction of what this person’s interests might be. As long as she wasn’t going to be a stick in the mud, then things would be fine, there was a curfew in place but adhering to it was not on the woman’s list of things to do. She smiled softly to Iris’s quip and tipped her head slightly, taking the other girls hand, Alyssa’s cool, soft hand held onto the other girls. She nearly apologized for the rough callous state that her fingers were in but instead she managed to say. ”Iris, it’s so very nice to meet you” When asked about her instrument, she cast her gaze towards it and was thoughtful for just a moment, before nodding. ”Yes, I do. I also have my electric guitar here and I can play a bunch of other instruments… oh! But don’t worry I won’t keep you up or anything” Poor Alyssa spoke quickly the words tumbled out, at first she was trying to impress Iris hoping that would make the other girl like her, then with a crashing realization, eager to make sure Iris didn’t jump to a wrong conclusion that she would keep anyone up all night. Perhaps she’d held onto the other girls hand a moment too long and so she let it drop. Alyssa was a quiet person, the most noise she made was either when too drunk to worry about it, or playing music. Still she wanted this person to like her, she knew it was a bad way to start things off but she really wanted Iris to like her. Now how was she going to do that, Alyssa was struggling to think of a subtle way to ask if her roommate would enjoy the bottle of 1200 dollar wine she’d snuck in as well. Fumbling with something to say, she wasn't great at conversations so all she could manage was in her opinion a very over done. " what do you think about the school?

| As Alyssa’s fingers slid into hers, Iris gave them a soft squeeze. They weren’t what she’d been expecting. Just one look at the girl and everything she’d toted with her told Iris all she needed to know about the difference between their social classes. With all of that in mind, she had expected the girl to have soft and pliable hands. The callouses on her fingers felt like her brother’s after he’d spent all summer working construction. Iris’s own hands remained much softer than Alyssa’s, despite the life she had lead. Iris had managed to make money in ways that didn’t warrant callouses, and for that much she was thankful. Though, honestly, the callouses weren’t so bad. They were interesting.
“That’s amazing!” She gushed as Alyssa replied to her. “You don’t have to worry about that~ I would love to hear you play sometime.” Iris smiled warmly, finally allowing her hand to fall back to her side. She was somewhat jealous of Alyssa, but she quickly reminded herself not to be. The other girl was at the school for a reason. Perhaps her life hadn’t been quite as comfortable as it appeared. Of course, surely it hadn’t been as unpleasant as hers. Money afforded some luxuries, after all. Like food. And electricity.
A harsh smirk appeared on her face as her roomie asked her opinion of the school. “I think it’s a fuckin’ joke.” She stated, rolling her eyes. “I have better things to do.”

Alyssa was no where near as observant as Iris the fact that this girls hands were soft meant nothing to her other than the idle thought. Oooh she has really soft hands, very nice Alyssa was not going to be the worlds greatest detective, probably. Likely a safe bet- anyway since neither of them were men and this wasn’t a pissing contest it was a soft easy handshake. Things were going marginally better than Alyssa had been expecting, she hadn’t been stabbed yet so this was all on the upward swing from there. This was going well, and yes it was a little early to judge she’d concede that in a heart beat, or not. When Iris gushed about Alyssa’s ability to play music, the young woman couldn’t resist the rolling blush that blossomed upon her features, lighting her up like a Christmas light. ”O-oh thank you, but it’s really nothing too much” She paused just for a moment, before continuing quickly. ”Oh! Yes sure… anytime you wish we can arrange that” She hoped that her playing could live up to anyone’s expectations, despite the constant reassurance she’d never been confidence in letting someone else hear her music. Still whatever apprehension bubbled beneath Alyssa’s surface was abated by the smirk her roommate held, then its ashes were scattered by the wind of her words. ” Oh…well I’m glad you agree…” Taking a peek out the door to make sure no one was coming Alyssa smiled a secretive smile, and opened one of the boxes set down. Inside was a minifridge, which was hefted out of the box with no small effort, Alyssa was not a strong person. She opened it inside to a surprisingly small storage space despite the size of the rather large machine. It had a surprisingly small storage space. Which was because the back came off, behind the soda storage spot there was room for booze, custom made of course. Inside was a single bottle of expensive- really expensive wine. Hell Alyssa didn’t even like wine but stealing it from her father had felt good. ”Then may I suggest we start the year with some proper- refreshments? Wine glasses were in the box she nudged with her foot as well as an opener. Time for the true test of how they’d get along, worst case scenario Alyssa could pay Iris for silence. Iris Kim

| As the rolling blush lit up Alyssa’s features, Iris’s eyes brightened. A wide smile began to blossom across her lips. How cute! Alyssa was so cute! She resisted the urge to grab the girl’s hands again or otherwise be affectionate with her. Despite the fact that they were roomies and seemed to be getting along well so far, they barely knew one another. What if Alyssa wasn’t okay with that? Iris didn’t want to make her uncomfortable. “I’d love to hear you as soon as possible! Maybe after we’re done unpacking or something.” She grinned. Iris couldn’t believe that her roomie was so talented! It was amazing.
A black eyebrow arched slowly as Alyssa moved to peek out the door. Iris waited in silent anticipation as her roommate started digging things out. As soon as the wine made its appearance, a mischievous grin appeared on Iris’s lips. “Sounds like a plan!” Her voice was rich with excitement as she leaned to pick up the wine glasses and opener. She placed the glasses carefully to the side before taking the wine and popping the cork with ease. She then handed it back to Alyssa so the other girl could pour it.
“We’re gonna get along great~” She cooed as she waited.
