Light the fuse and burn it up Take the path that leads to nowhere “I’ll be fine.” The confident words that had fallen from the girl’s lips as she peeled her friend off could not have been further from the truth. While, most of the time, Iris could fend for herself… tonight was a bit different. Iris had walked home drunk many times in her short life, however, she hadn’t quite gotten the hang of navigating the campus just yet. The party had been off-campus, and though she’d managed to find her way back, she had also managed to forget just where her dorm building was. Though a sober Iris would have thought to consult a map, a drunk Iris simply didn’t care. She didn’t even remember the rules about curfew. Basically, she was setting herself up to get in a bit of trouble. The girl stumbled a bit as her heel caught in the grass. It had rained earlier in the day, and the ground was soft as a result. Her heels kept sinking into the grass, and once again, Iris didn’t have the mental fortitude to come to the conclusion that she should remove them. Of course not. And she didn’t have the balance to keep wearing them. Basically, it was an accident waiting to happen. She was an accident waiting to happen. Either she was going to break her ankle or get caught by some authority figure and find herself in quite a bit of trouble. Neither of these things seemed to bother the girl at all, however. Iris’s smile was serene as she managed to pull her heel out of the grass. She took a few more steps before she dug her phone from her purse and lit it up. Her brother had text her earlier, and the text was full of good news. She brought it up to read again, which was, of course, a terrible idea. As soon as she became distracted, her heel sunk into the grass again. This time, the girl went toppling down. Dull pain throbbed in her ankle (pain that would have been much more pronounced had she been sober), and her phone skidded a few feet from her. She let out a soft whine, her green eyes held wide. How had that happened? Where was she, again? 374 words -- Kae Lunan -- hope it's alright!!

THE ANSWERS ARE SHATTERED AGAIN...
One of the many advantages of not having a roommate is that Kae couldn't have cared less about what he did in the dead of the night The sophomore possibly could have been dancing and singing along to pop songs if he wanted...not that he ever would, not unless he was drunk anyways. It's really no surprise that he go to extremes to avoid parties. Plus, he felt at peace the most when he found his nose stuck in a book during his typical late-night reading session.
Tonight, however was significantly different. Perhaps Kae had been spending too much time isolated, he could sense the dorm walls closing in and smothering him. Outside, the rain had made the air stickily heavy and the clouds were depicted a murky gray. No soul were to be seen in the campus on a night as such anyways. Thus, the brunet took a step outside of his comfort zone and decided to take a breather.
The silence was almost haunting. Even though Kae wasn't expecting to meet people, not even hearing the cries of crickets made his stomach hurl slightly. The young man wasn't necessarily easily spooked. In fact, he had a tough stomach for supernatural-related things. Something about the heaviness that hung low in the air kept Kae on his toes though.
From a distance, Kae noted a silhouette come into view as it staggered from left and right. Obviously it was trouble. Every fiber in his body demanded him to walk away, but of course curiosity got the best of him. Kae approached cautiously as the figure seemed to struggled in the grass. Slowly, it became pretty plain to see that the person was not even heading towards the right dorm. The sophomore wished he had been heartless enough to leave the seemingly party-girl, but being the idiot he is, he stuck around to make sure the other made it somewhere...safely.
Kae found himself speeding towards the stranger as he toppled down. He threw away all rationality as he trotted towards the other. Oh...how he was going to regret putting his peaceful years at Birchwood at risk. But before he knew it, the brunet was already beyond the point of not getting involved. A sigh slipped from his lips as he leaned down to offer a hand, "are you alright? Can you stand?"

The world was spinning, though perhaps not in an unpleasant way. Iris’s body was warm and tingly, despite the fact that she was laying on the damp ground. Her hair was a wavy mess all down her back, but she didn’t really mind. A serene smile was still spread on her cheeks, and rather than laying in a humped up mess, the girl rolled onto her back and stared up at the sky. There were some stars visible, much more than in Chicago. She smiled again, her fingers brushing over cheeks before landing next to her head. It was so nice tonight. Or so the drunk girl thought. To a sober person, laying on the ground would have been cold misery. Iris would, perhaps, come to regret that in the next several days.
"Are you alright? Can you stand?"
Green eyes blinked as she tilted her head back to observe the person who was speaking to her. Perhaps she had seen him around school before, but for the most part, his face was largely unfamiliar to her. A sober Iris would have been more on guard, but a drunk Iris didn’t exactly care. She grinned up at him, reaching her hands toward his face. “You’re so tall!” She cooed excitedly. She laid in silence for a moment as her brain finally processed what he’d asked her. Could she stand? Of course she could! Why couldn’t she?
She managed to rise up into a sitting position with relative ease, however, the hard part came when she gathered her legs below her to try and stand. She pushed up, however, her heels sank into the grass again. That, coupled with the fact that the world wouldn’t stay still sent her swaying to the side. Luckily for Iris (and perhaps unluckily for her would-be savior), he was right where she was swaying. Her body collided with his, and she giggled. “Oh! Sorry!” Rather than move away, the girl’s fingers curled themselves in the boy’s clothing. Why was it so hard to stand?

THE ANSWERS ARE 418 WORDS ■ Iris Kim ■ you have killed kae 8'D SHATTERED AGAIN...
At the spur of the moment, Kae found himself scuffling for words. What else did he expect to say to this stranger? He had no obligation to offer help, yet he couldn't permit himself to turn away. The brief moment of silence that followed Kae's question left him fidgeting. There was something unnerving about those green orbs that gaped at him. It made Kae wonder perhaps, his assistance was unnecessary.
"You're so tall!"
The purple haired stranger's outburst caught Kae off guard. His face, now clutched in the other's hands turned immensely pale. Kae carefully watched her with big blue worried eyes as she ventured to stand up in her drunken state. He held his offered hand hanging unconsciously for he was distracted by the wobbly figure in front of him. There was a disaster waiting to take place and Kae was dead center of it.
The brunet should have moved if he had known better. However, it was too little too late to be seized in his thought for the next thing he knew, the unfamiliar being came toppling on him. Her presence caught Kae off guard and the collision ultimately caused him to lost his footing. The sophomore stumbled backwards onto his knees failing to search for balance. Without realizing, he had unintentionally grabbed onto the girl's shoulders among the chaos as the other clutched onto his shirt. He immediately held his breath at the close proximity between the two. Releasing his grip, Kae lolled a few baby steps back. Grasping for deep breaths, he managed to calm himself down as much as he could before reluctantly tugging the stranger's elbows to help her stand.
Kae let out a sign after what felt like the worst minute of his life. "I-I think you s-should return to your dorm and get some rest. I can t-take you there if you w-want." A pouty scowl formed on his lips as he tried to hide his flushed face. It hadn't lasted a second becore regret came flooding in his chest. He honestly wanted to sew his mouth shut. Why was ignoring (something he excelled at) so hard to commit when he needed to the most? There was no way to determine which was worse; trying to sneak the stranger into the girl's dorm or to the boys? Either way, he was digging his grave way too deep. For all he knew, he peaceful days were beyond disturbed, but how was he to leave the person who could barely stand?

As the girl stumbled to the side, and her body collided with the boy’s, she found that he did not simply hold her weight. Perhaps Iris had spent too much time around boys who were used to catching drunk girls on a dime. This particular boy, unfortunately for both of them, was not that quick. When she stumbled into him, she felt his body give way under hers. They were both tumbling after that, and before Iris could even really make sense of what was happening, a pain sharp enough for her to feel traveled through her already injured ankle. She gasped out, whining loudly as she scrabbled on the ground to get her foot into a position that lessened the burning pain.
Green eyes finally fell on her shoes, and it clicked in her mind. Wet grass, heels, she was drunk. Drunk and stupid. She swallowed, managing to ignore the fact that her ankle was already swelling. She removed the shoes easily enough, a frown present on her face as she prodded the red and swollen thing that was supposedly her ankle. Well, at the very least the pain had subsided and she didn’t necessarily feel the prod. For now. Somewhere in the back of her muddled mind, she realized that she would definitely be feeling that in the morning.
Finally, she seemed to remember that the boy was there again. She tilted her head to look at him. Was he saying something to her? She blinked several times. She’d missed it. She had no idea what he’d said. She was so focused on getting her shoes off and her ankle that she had ignored him entirely. “Uh…” She smiled brightly, deciding that whatever he’d said wasn’t that important anyway. “Can you help me stand up?” Her question was somewhat slurred, but easy enough to decipher. “I think I hurt my ankle.” She frowned at that statement, clearly showing her distaste for what had happened.

THE ANSWERS ARE SHATTERED AGAIN...
There was a sharp pain in Kae's knees which had been forced to uphold the weight of two people. It felt as though he had been expected to support the both of them when he had no intention. However, the brunet spent most of his time in his room reading, not strolling along campus grounds anticipating to catch wobbly drunk individuals. The boy had never even touched alcohol in his whole life. Kae wouldn't deem himself as a model student. Simply put, he had no interest in the poisonous liquid that his mother allowed to devour his family.
Truth be told, the sophomore had never known how to handle his mother when she became drunken. Unfortunately, the lack of comprehension carries over to the current situation. Kae was flustered and couldn't find the right words to say especially now since the other seemed to ignore his statement. He had been pre-occupied by his own thoughts, he hadn't realized the slight painful groan that escaped from the other's mouth. All he could do was to continue the on-going debate in his head; should he stay and help or should he go? Though, it was obvious Kae had dug too deep to get out now.
The brunet said nothing more following his original statement. Perhaps, he reckoned it was unnecessary for he recognized the noticeable swelling on the girl's ankle. It didn't take a genius to deduct that she was going to need help getting somewhere. Kae crouched slightly as though to gather strength before rising up slowly, supporting the other with his shoulders. When they were fully standing, Kae's face once again flushed with embarrassment. There was nothing harder than to breathe than when someone's just inches away. He could detect the stranger's scent; a flowery fragrance mixed with the alcohol reek. "Where were you headed? I'll take you there." This time, he announced louder while staring into the other's eyes, hoping that she wouldn't dismiss it again. Every word he spoke took effort from every fiber of his body.

Had she not been so far gone, Iris would have noticed just how nervous and uncomfortable the boy seemed to be. In her current state, however, she didn’t manage to notice. She was coming around a bit more, though. The pain in her ankle, coupled with the cool air, and the effort that she was putting into concentrating were all starting to sober her up a bit. The thought of having to make it back to her dorm was somewhat overwhelming, however it faded away quickly enough. She would worry about that later, right? Green eyes were wide as the boy leaned down and reached for her. She allowed her body to be gathered into his arms, instantly going limp in them. A sober Iris would have insisted on walking, she wouldn’t have trusted a stranger to carry her. But, well, she was obviously far from sober.
Green eyes held his with some latent intensity as he asked where she was going and announced that he would take her there. “I was gonna go to my dorm.” She mumbled softly, tilting her head slightly, though she never broke eye-contact with him. “I think I forgot my key, though.” Her bottom lip poked out in a pout, her brow furrowing. Had she actually been planning on spending the night? Why else would she have left her key? Forgetting it didn’t really seem like her.
That being said, her shoes were lying forgotten on the ground.
“You have really pretty eyes.” She stated after a moment, grinning, her distress over having left her key forgotten already.

THE ANSWERS ARE SHATTERED AGAIN...
It had been surprising how lightly the girl fell limp in his arms. The feeling of holding a stranger merely inches away from his body threatened his vulnerability. But then again, Kae tried to ignore his discomfort after trying to weight the girl's state against his. The stranger was in her drunken state; she of all people should have been concerned about her vulnerability more than anyone else. Words of protest once swirled around in the brunet's mind, demanding him to think rationally. But he instead stopped and shoved away any rational thinking or thinking in general. Kae became focused on the stranger as he adjusted his position to serve to the comfort of both parties.
The sophomore sighed explicitly as the girl declared her situation. How could one be so defenseless; wondering around drunk and alone with no way of getting back to their dorm? Kae contemplated at his options. It clearly hadn't seem like the girl could make it into her dorm even if he had transported her there. Plus, he would be risking sneaking into the building that's a thousand miles away from where they were. "I...urr. Umm...." He stumbled for words. Evidently, the most convenient choice was to take her back to his dorm and let her stay for the night. It just happens so that his supposedly new roommate hadn't moved in yet. "I could take you back to my room if you need a place to stay for the night," he announced timidly, almost inaudible.
However, he had not necessarily wait for her response. It was a bold decision for Kae, but he turned on his heel and started to walk back to his dorm at a slow pace hoping the girl would not protest. Or else, he was running out of ideas and solutions.
Of course he hadn't paid attention to the heels that lied forgotten in the wet grass.
As much as he would hate to admit it, he simply wasn't the strongest person. Although he didn't necessarily struggle carrying the stranger, it was obvious he couldn't go much faster. Caught unexpectedly by the stranger's remark about his eyes, Kae stared at her with big confused eyes. "Sorry? What was that?" He had to make sure he wasn't hearing things. Be nevertheless, the blush that appeared on his face was apparent even in the dark.

A surge of anxiety forced its way through Iris’s stomach when the boy said he was going to take her back to his dorm. Who was he again? Was that okay? She swallowed, feeling uncertain. Of course, she’d forgotten her key and… As the boy shifted, her head lolled, and a soft giggle escaped from her lips. She leaned her head against his shoulder, unable to hold it still. Bright green eyes watched as the world traveled around her, at a pace so slow that it was almost relaxing. Her reservations were forgotten with the shift, and likely wouldn’t be remembered again until she was crawling into his bed – or wherever he was going to let her sleep.
“I said your eyes are pretty!” She cooed, raising her head from his shoulder so she could look at them again. “They’re like gray, but they have his blue tint and it’s just really pretty!” She was rambling, but easy enough to understand for anyone who’d spent an extended period of time around a drunk. She grinned brightly, reaching to poke the blackette’s cheek before she let her head drop back onto his shoulder. She closed her eyes, breathing in deep through her nose. “Hey, what’s your name anyway?” She asked, her voice somewhat thicker than it had been.
Why was she so sleepy all of a sudden?
