[attr="class","booby"]I've been a dirty bastard, but I will clean my act up I wanna stop doing bad I wanna meet your mom and dad it's not a little unpretending happy ending [attr="class","buttnotes"] | [attr="class","ainsleypost"] ”You aren’t listening to me!” A sharp voice rang out over the small crowd of students followed by the sharp snap of fingers. ”I’m talking to you!” Again, the speaker snapped and finally the person he had been speaking to turned around to give him a cold glare. Obviously he had been busy, but Ainsley didn’t care. ”I’m fucking bu-””No listen!” Ainsley ignored the slightly mortified stares from a couple of the surrounding students. Truthfully, most of the students at Birchwood had some vague idea as to who he was. They might not know him by name, or even face, but the description of ‘narcissistic asshole’ was enough. The boy he had been speaking to gave an annoyed huff, letting out a low groan as he focused his obviously strained attention on Ainsley, who looked all to proud to have garnered all the eyes of those around him. ”Would you believe some of the nonsense I’ve seen today? Would you even believe how many people I’ve seen pick their gross noses?” Ainsley cast an almost accusing gaze around the several students that were now included in his conversation, stopping momentarily on one of the younger girl students. She was younger than him, meek, and dressed like a travesty. It was obvious she didn’t have an ounce of self confidence yet, and her hair was a ratty mess and Ainsley let out an audible gasp at the sight of her. She knew what was coming, the verbal berating, and braced herself. ”You should know that when you go out in public it’s a performance! People’s eyes are on you! You’re the star of the show and you can’t be the star looking so dim!” It was almost uplifting...but… so rude and unfair and the girl he was speaking to frowned at him in response, blowing a strand of tangled hair out of her face. ”You really should take my advice, or at least pretend to listen. It’ll come in handy.” |

THERE IS PLEASURE IN THE PATHLESS WOODS ”You aren’t listening to me!”
Xander had been on a walk- mainly to explore campus- when an awfully shrill cry filled his ears. Previously relaxed features contorted in a mix of annoyance and confusion as he looked for the source, the individual who dare ruin his peaceful exploring of campus, and.. ah. There it was.
His line of sight picked up on a surprisingly pleasant looking individual- in fact, he at first wondered if he had the wrong person a moment before the banter continued, seemingly louder than before now that he was focused on it. He frowned as he moved closer to the scene, albeit in a quiet manner as not to attract attention to himself. It was truly a shame, really. If the boy had merely kept his mouth shut, Xander could at least admire his appearance. But alas, it was hard to find beauty in a squealing runt, and the green haired adolescent wasn't going to bother trying. For now, though, he at least kept where he was, watching it continue to unfold with hope he'd just stop.
Now- Xander wasn't a white knight. He didn't really care if Ainsley hurt people's feelings, or annoyed others. It wasn't his business. However, this was loud, persistent, and right in his proximity. By the time the young man had moved from his first victim to the second, he'd merely had enough. Quickly, he walked right up to the scene, with just a bit of distance in case he needed an escape route.
"Goodness, you are a loud rat, aren't you?" He said with a sneer of sorts, staring the brunette down, "Perhaps she'd listen to your advice if you didn't scream like a baby wanting his mother's bosom."
One thing making it harder for him to truly tear into him was the knowledge there were people watching him at the moment, but it also made him feel pressured to continue, lest they think poorly of his intellect. His grin grew as he drawled on. "Actually, I believe you should be taking some pointers from this young lady."
He offered a near.. wink at her of sorts as he gestured to her, as if to make her smile- though in the end he knew he was only doing it to further irritate his current target. "At least I can find something pleasant in her silence. You, on the other hand.. the screaming really ruins all your good points for me. What a shame."

[attr="class","booby"]I've been a dirty bastard, but I will clean my act up I wanna stop doing bad I wanna meet your mom and dad it's not a little unpretending happy ending [attr="class","buttnotes"] | [attr="class","ainsleypost"]Ainsley hadn’t even noticed the sound of someone else approaching the small group of students he had basically been preaching at. Truthfully it didn’t matter to him how many people were around him, he practically fed off any sort of energy, whether it be positive or negative. It wasn’t until he heard a boy’s voice that he spun around to look towards the source, eyes narrowing ever so slightly as the words really settled with him. ”And what century are you from King Aurthur? Bosom?” Ainsley sneered. He didn’t know who this asshole thought he was coming over and trying to pick a fight with him, but Ainsley certainly wasn’t about to take anything he was saying sitting down, no fucking sir. He took a step closer to the greenette, hands placed firmly on his hips as he glared at the other teen. ”What kind of chauvinist asshole are you anyway? If she was really so upset with anything I was saying I bet she would have given me a lashing anyway, so what good is your input?” After a moment, Ainsley’s lips twitched into a smirk and his posture relaxed ever so slightly. ”Unless you came over here just to talk to me! Which is so sweet of you.” His words were almost sickeningly sweet as he looked towards the greenette, the entirety of his attention now on him. Which was probably good for the several other students around, who were stealthily making their escape from Ainsley’s unwanted presence. |

THERE IS PLEASURE IN THE PATHLESS WOODS Truthfully, the way the brunette approached him filled him with a remote sense of panic, not all too noticeable save for his frame going rigid and him almost stepping back but not quite. He hated confrontation, as he knew he could never win a physical fight as easily as a verbal one; it'd just never been a focus for him. However, he would stand his ground and listen, his eyes narrowed a bit in turn with the other male's as he examined his every word and movement.
A brow quickly raised in confusion. "Bosom? I believe I've missed the punchline. Or are you one of those children that are going to giggle at the mere mention of a mother's tit?"
His movements changed at that point, choosing to express a form of intimidation as he walked in a circle around the boy. Perhaps, just perhaps if he did so, he could avoid any physical harm. "But, dear child- you're rather wrong on that. People lie all the time. They don't say what they mean out of fear, or plans to use the other." He broke off to grin a bit at the individual, his voice shifting into a low purr of sorts as he added, "I wouldn't be surprised if anyone who's ever expressed interest in you merely faked it to appease your attitude. That would be a shame, wouldn't it? To find your entire life is plagued with falsehoods?"
His eyes grew cold a moment as he continued, "In the end, I know my words don't mean much to you. They're just observations. But I know your type. You scream, you feign your aggression- perhaps even throw a kick, a punch. But deep down, we both know you're pathetically weak. Your mind would break in a moment's notice. And with how you act, I doubt anyone would come to save you."
Of course, it was never that simple. Xander knew that he was, for the most part, basing off of very quick presumptions, and for all he knew this individual could be very mentally strong. However, the boy might not be smart enough to pinpoint that fallacy- and judging from behaviors, he didn't really expect him to be.
In the end, this thinking only lead to a casual sigh. "Frankly, I just wanted to quiet you because you were so annoying to other people it was rubbing off on me. But I'm already beginning to feel you aren't worth my time."

[attr="class","booby"]I've been a dirty bastard, but I will clean my act up I wanna stop doing bad I wanna meet your mom and dad it's not a little unpretending happy ending [attr="class","buttnotes"] | [attr="class","ainsleypost"]It was kind of like talking to a weird dictionary and Ainsley wasn’t sure if he found the other amusing or annoying just yet. He wasn’t upset by what was being said to him, not anymore. It really seemed like everything that the greenette was asying was just a weird way of fluffing his own feathers. “Look I’m so smart. I’m better than you.” It was some sort of complex. Ainsley figured that to an extent that this was what it must be like to talk to himself, but at least he didn’t try to sound smarter than he really was! ”Just… call it a boob man.” Ainsley muttered with a shrug. Maybe in fifth grade he would have giggled, but he didn’t find them that great or that funny now. Unless he was witnessing a horrendous nip slip, those were hilarious but that was completely different. Ainsley rotated himself as the other circled him. While the other was pacing around him to avoid getting punched or something, Ainsley was preparing himself for the opposite. He wasn’t about to have his back to someone and let them jump on him. He also wasn’t about to initiate a fight though, he was wearing his good shoes and he wasn’t about to get them scuffed up because some idiot wanted to be mouthy. ”Then you’re assuming every person I’ve ever interacted with is an excellent actor.” For a moment his voice dipped low, an almost threatening sound as his gaze followed the green haired boy’s movements. Ainsley fell silent for a few moments as he allowed the other’s words to run through his mind, it seemed that simply taking his usual approach to the situation wasn’t going to work, so he simply shrugged his shoulders. ”I’m not feigning anything. You’re the one whose faking. You can’t even stand still and talk to me like a man, you pace like a scared little bitch. You think I didn’t notice? You think I’m that deft and you’re so much smarter than me?” For once Ainsley spoke in a low tone, almost menacing as he stared at the slightly taller boy, his gaze icy. ”You think you’re the only one with the ability to pay attention to your surroundings?” At that he took a sharp step closer to the greenette it was obviously a threat, but the look in the junior’s eyes made it obvious he was more than willing to throw a punch if the greenette didn’t pick his words wisely. THERE IS PLEASURE IN THE PATHLESS WOODS Xander didn't like where this was going, mainly as it seemed his typical games weren't working. Maybe it was an off day, or maybe this boy was smarter than he'd given him credit for. Either way, he did not approve of how... outright unaffected he seemed, even trying to correct his speech. His brows knit together to show this.
"I dislike that word. And I don't feel the need to bring my speech patterns down to your level." Deep down, he knew this was an issue he had. Even his brother had given him a long, long talk about this and how people weren't going to like him if he talked like he had a stick up his ass. Not that Xander cared about such things. "And, frankly, I'd rather talk like this than a screaming child like you any day."
To add to the tension rising in Xander's chest, this fellow peer wasn't letting him out of his sight for a second. Frankly, any normal person would realize that this was out of self-defense, but Xander saw it as planned attack and it only made him more on guard as he swallowed thickly. He wouldn't dare stop pacing, though.
Regardless, his voice remained firm, almost.. amused, in its own condescending way. "Am I really assuming, or are you just afraid to think about the possibility that you're too horrible to love?"
The way the male's voice showed just as much malicious intent made him feel physically sick, almost, as growing anxiety billowed up from his stomach into his chest placing a firm squeeze on his heart. He even jumped back just a bit at the mere step Ainsley took, form trembling a moment as he took heavy breaths to calm himself.. He'd lost, in a sense, and it'd be far better to leave at this point.
Unfortunately for Xander and the other boy, he wasn't listening to that logical side of his brain right now and was instead falling into any way to save himself in this fight.
He swallowed once more, his voice showing just a bit of waver. ".. Do you know how I know I'm smarter than you? I know because you're the only one ready to deck me at any moment, in broad daylight, over just a few words. My fear is something I can't help- it's a survival tactic, sheer human impulse than I could not control if I wanted to- but you.. you have that control."
Despite his shaky demeanor, he kept a glare of sorts plastered on his face. "I-if you're really going to lunge at me right now for what I'm saying? I won't stop you. But it'll be proof you're such a pathetic child that can't simply take the words and walk away. That deep down, you're hurt because you know I'm right. So come at me. Destroy your entire reputation, right now." Word Count:482// Tags: Ainsley Willis // OOC: He's such a pussy though.

[attr="class","booby"]I've been a dirty bastard, but I will clean my act up I wanna stop doing bad I wanna meet your mom and dad it's not a little unpretending happy ending [attr="class","buttnotes"] | [attr="class","ainsleypost"]Ainsley knew he had won. He knew the greenette was grasping at straws in an attempt to get under his skin and he was desperately trying to ruffle his feathers, but Ainsley knew. Nothing the other said really mattered at this point, and it was obvious by the tiny smile that had painted its way onto his features. It was obvious that Ainsley was aware of his victory. He could feel the tension wafting off the other teen, and he could feel just how defensive and cornered he felt. It wasn’t like Ainsley wanted to bully him, no, but he had started it and Ainsley was going to end it and make it known that he was better at this stupid game than some stupid kid who thought he could just wander over and try to push him around. Ainsley listened to the other’s speech, listened to the tiny hiccup in his voice as he tried to sound brave and after he was finished Ainsley shook his head and took a rather relaxed step back. ”You’re just a big coward huh?” Ainsley said with a soft laugh, shaking his head in dismay. ”Are you really going to trash talk someone for defending themselves? You came over here to pick a fight, what did you really expect to happen?” For a moment Ainsley paused, folding his arms over his chest before shaking his head and sighing, ”Honestly, you should be grateful I’m wearing my good shoes or I really would have socked one to you, but, I have better things to do.”There was still an air of tension, but Ainsley now had a new audience, even if it was just one person. Someone he had thoroughly intimidated, but someone. ”Now, listen up. Not everyone is going to be amiable and charitable as me, if you go mouthing off to everyone on campus you’re going to end up with a fat lip and probably a broken nose. So, if you’re going to be a sassy pants you better be ready to throw a punch.” The abrupt lecture ended with a sharp nod. |

THERE IS PLEASURE IN THE PATHLESS WOODS Xander had dearly hoped his brave face would have worked, but just by the way the boy moved back, he could simply tell he'd failed. It was embarrassing, honestly, and it took everything in him not to bow his head in shame. A visible wince at this realization came over him, like a stab to his heart. However, the distance clearly relaxed him, and his breathing and pulse steadied- though he was clearly still a bit on edge over the whole thing.
He did actually listen to him this time, though, taking in his words and considering them. What choice did he really have, after messing this up so badly? "Why... would a pair of shoes even matter? You 'sock' with your fists, do you not? And even if you included kicking, I'm clean. I wouldn't dirty your shoes unless you caused me to bleed, and you don't seem the type to make one bleed out..." Most wouldn't think so hard on it, but Xander always was curious about matters, often over analyzing them.
Being... lectured was what really killed his fears over the matter, and instead brought in annoyance. It made him feel like a child, really, and he wouldn't help the faintest of sulk-like expressions as his eyes focused intently on the ground. "... Honestly.. I wouldn't have even approached you if you hadn't been so loud. Perhaps I went in over my head this one time, but you truly were being an annoyance to them." He huffed softly, almost flipping his hair a bit. "And I'll have you know I can handle myself well, when I'm not caught off guard.. These looks aren't just for show. I don't need your blasted pity."
Truthfully, even Xander knew he was bluffing a bit on that. But he did know he could at least handle someone in a survival situation, and that was all that mattered to him. Word Count:317// Tags: Ainsley Willis // OOC: That ego really is gonna get him punched.

So it’s better to just play it safe.” Truth be told though, his entire outfit was on point today, and therefore getting into a fight and ruining it was just out of the question. A tiny huff escaped his lips and Ainsley shook his head a bit, ”What’s the phrase? Assuming makes an ass out of you or whatever? I don’t think you would have even come over here if I looked big and scary!” He spoke pointedly, but at this point Ainsley was more amused than anything else. It wasn’t like Ainsley wasn’t aware of how he looked, he was small and rather petite, with big rather adorable eyes and long lovely hair. If he kept his mouth shut maybe more people would flock to him on their own, but instead he found himself scaring them away with his insipid yelling. ”And anyway who said it was pity? I just don’t wanna have to see your face smashed into the ground by someone twice your size because your have a big ol’ mouth, that’s not a good look for anyone.” Still, now that the other boy wasn’t trying to grill him, he was kind of tolerable, and Ainsley found himself smiling widely at him, ”I’m sure you know this by now, but I’m Ainsley!” |
