[attr="class","hdinfo"] Cole was the result of sexual assault, and while at the time his mother and father had been dating it was still assault nonetheless. His father demanded he be aborted, but Cole’s mother insisted they keep the baby, and he was born into a chaotic environment that never really seemed to be at peace. From a young age Cole watched his parents fight, well, he watched his dad scream at his mother and watched as his mother would nod in agreement. His mother would often try to shield him from the violence, especially if it happened to be directed at him, which was often. His dad was a broody man, though it was worse when he was intoxicated. Often though, he was ‘the best dad on the block’ and would buy Cole and his mother gifts, or take them on trips. These good moods never lasted long though, hours, maybe. His father had a terrible drinking problem, and his mother refused to put her foot down. Cole’s childhood was explosive, to say the least. Being smacked around was a regular occurrence for him, but he made friends well enough. It helped that he could basically be whoever anyone wanted him to be since his own sense of self-worth was so low. A few of his friends thought his behavior was a bit odd, but they were kids and no one really ever thought to press him for answers. When he was seventeen his father’s temper became all the more explosive, he borderlined dangerous. Cole did his best not to step on his toes, but it happened inevitably, seemingly constantly. During an especially violent outburst, Cole’s father threw a vase that smashed into Cole’s face, glass cutting deep into his right eye. Unable to ‘wait it out’ as he usually did, the ER visit was certainly… eventful. Cole was removed from the care of his parents, and placed into foster care. For about a year he bounced from house to house until he settled with a family with three other foster children. All of them had been beaten up in their own way, and Cole fit in rather well. His foster parents were kind and loving people. Cole began to really find himself, and began to act like a normal teenager to some extent. It was something his foster parents were happy for. Despite this, Cole found himself getting taken advantage of a lot. People would walk all over him, and it was something he had just begun to accept as normal. His foster parents weren’t blind to these happenings though, and they watched as Cole struggled in public school and watched as he retreated back into himself. They watched as his moods dangerously swung back and forth as he tried to find a foothold within the house and watched as anger began to build up inside him. Therapy wasn’t something they could afford, but they were able to find a school that would be able to offer Cole the attention and care he needed. Birchwood Academy seemed like their only option, and after much discussion they sent Cole on his way. Cole began attending Birchwood near the end of his junior year, and after an adjustment period he seems to be doing relatively well. |
